CollabFest

CollabFest is a celebration and exploration of all things collaborative piano. At the heart of the matter, the collaborative arts are about teamwork, community building, generous sharing of self, and the sheer joy of making music intimately with another musician. CollabFest celebrates this, particularly now, as we keenly feel just how important being together is for us and for our world.

IKCAS began as CollabFest in 2016, and between 2016 and 2019, six collaborative piano conferences were held with hundreds participating in these events. In summer 2020, in response to the ravages of COVID-19, we held ten interactive zoom sessions under the title Collaborators in the Time of Corona. We are honored to have been able to provide this opportunity for humanizing connection and interaction within our community during this time of physically distanced collaboration by offering sessions designed to specifically address the current musical, creative and technological needs of our community. Hundreds of pianists from around the world joined us for these CTC conversations.

IKCAS supports its members through a variety of means, including conferences and meetings, educational events, exclusive member content, opportunities to share work with the community, mentoring opportunities, opportunities for action and engagement, an e-journal and more.

We are excited to develop the importance and potential of an independent professional association for collaborators, something that CollabFest has had in its plan since its inception five years ago, and we hope that you will partner with us!
